#25 - Cliff Hammonds
2008-2009: Darussafaka C.Tires Istanbul (Turkey-TBL): 2007-08 (SENIOR): Hammonds was third-team All-ACC after leading the Tigers in assists (133) and steals (66), and ranking second on the team in scoring... averaged 11.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.94 steals per game and sparked the Tigers to a 24-10 record and a No. 22 ranking in the final AP poll... guided Clemson to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 10 years and first ACC Tournament championship appearance in 46 years... Hammonds was named second-team All-ACC Tournament team... a three-time Academic All-ACC performer and finalist for the Chip Hilton Basketball Hall of Fame Award for excellence on the court and for high character, broke four Tigers' career records this season... he set marks for more games played (134), games started (133), consecutive starts (130) and minutes played (4,285)... one of five players in ACC history with at least 1,400 points, 400 rebounds, 400 assists, and 200 steals in a career... finished his four years with 1,465 points, which ranks ninth all-time among Clemson basketball players... played in the NABC College All-Star Game... also invited to compete in the 56th annual Portsmouth Invitational... was named an All-District III selection according to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association... awarded the first-ever "Skip" Prosser Award at the ACC Tournament, which is given to the top scholar-athlete men's basketball player in the league.
2006-07 (JUNIOR): One of five players to average in double figures, he had a career-best 11.6 points per game...served as one of the team's co-captains...started every game and played an average of 33.4 minutes per contest, best on the team...shot 46.5 percent from the field overall and 37.9 percent on threes...improved three-point accuracy from 28.3 percent as a sophomore...made 75 three-point baskets as a junior, one of the top 10 single-season figures in school history...needs 76 threes as a senior to break McIntyre's career record...ranked second in the ACC with a 2.49 assist-to-turnover ratio...actually had a 3.26 assist-to-turnover ratio in ACC regular season games...led the Tigers with 147 assists, which equates to 4.1 per game...ranked eighth in the conference in assists per game...finished seventh in the league in steals per game (1.67) after posting a career-best 60 steals...had more steals than turnovers, the first Tiger to do that since Greg Buckner in 1997-98. 2005-06 (SOPHOMORE): One of four Tigers to average in double figures, he finished at 10.1 points per game...a strong performance at Louisville in the final game of the season put him in the double figure average...started all 32 games at guard for the Tigers...led the team in minutes played for the second straight year...scored 20+ points on two occasions...reached double figures in scoring 15 times...second on the team with 49 made three-pointers...shot just 28.3 percent from that area for the season, but did shoot 42 percent from beyond the arc in Clemson's final 10 games...shot 40.2 percent overall as a sophomore...shot just 56.5 percent from the free throw line, but did turn it around and shoot 76 percent over the final 10 games of the season...third in the ACC in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.84)...finished first on the Tiger team with 105 assists versus just 57 turnovers...had five or more assists in 10 games...recorded 56 steals and was seventh in the ACC with 1.75 per game...the 56 steals were the third-most ever by a Clemson sophomore...fourth on the team with an average of 3.4 rebounds per game...led or tied for the team lead in assists in 16 games...posted three or more steals in 10 games...named to the all-tournament team at the 2005 San Juan Shootout...he averaged 10.3 points per game and shot 52 percent during that three-game run to the championship...closed the season by scoring in double figures in six of the last eight games. ![]() 2004-05 (FRESHMAN): Clemson's third leading scorer as a freshman with a 10.6 average, he was second in scoring in ACC games with a 9.6 figure, and second in scoring in road games with a 11.8 average...also ranked first on the team in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.37) and first in playing time per game (30.3)...first-team All-ACC freshman selection, he was the third-leading vote getter overall...also named honorable mention freshman All-American by Rivals.com...third among ACC freshmen in scoring in 2004-05, he was also ranked among the freshman leaders in steals (42) and assists (88)...four-time ACC Rookie of the Week, the most rookie of the week selections in history by a Clemson player...consistent all year, but he played his best game in the season finale when he scored 26 points against Texas A&M in the NIT...that was the most points by a Clemson freshman in nine years and tied for the third most points scored by a Clemson player in an NIT game. HIGH SCHOOL: The 4A Player-of-the-Year and first-team all-state selection as a senior...averaged 22.0 points and 7.5 rebounds to go with six assists and 4.5 steals per game his senior year...played his high school basketball for Ike Chance....led Cairo to the Final Four of the state championship tournament...ranked as the #21 point guard in the nation by TheInsiders.com at the end of the season.
